Who are we?
Hello! We are Aelís and Jurgen and we are the founders of Cois Laoi Willow. Our willow farm is nestled in the heart of the Gaeltacht, in Béal Átha'n Ghaorthaidh (Ballingeary), where we grow our willow along the banks of the River Lee.
Basketry is a heritage craft, and at Cois Laoi Willow, we do everything by hand—planting, harvesting, and weaving—just as I learned from my mother. While basket weaving is not as common as it once was, we’re thrilled to see a growing appreciation for sustainable, locally sourced materials. More and more people are choosing high-quality, handmade pieces over mass-produced alternatives, bringing craftsmanship and intention back into their homes.
