Imbolc

Imbolc

Busy week again! The run up to Bridget’s day happened as we hit into the tail end of our harvest. We’re taking a little bit longer with it this time (see last blog post),so between that, storms, and a million other things we still have some to cut. But it’s all good and we’re not putting too much pressure on ourselves to get it done immediately.

The last week in January was a really enjoyable one. We paused the willow work briefly to focus on the more traditional Bridget's cross rushwork. We got the opportunity to work with several groups in Cork city, all strong community groups, led by fantastic community workers. We gathered rushes at the weekend and then had classes throughout the week, making Bridget’s crosses and telling and listening to stories. It’s always a privilege to get to listen to groups like this talk about tradition, the practices they do at home, some religious, some cultural, all part of our heritage. The groups were a lot of fun and they were a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, where the hope is to get the harvest finished and get back to weaving!
